Sitting next to the River Eden in the beautiful Eden Valley at the edge of the Lake District is the majestic Appleby Castle. Owned by the Kings of England and Scotland, this motte and bailey castle cherishes one of the few intact Norman Keeps in the country. With stunning architecture and amazing views you wont be looking at Appleby Castle behind red ropes, you will get to experience living there. Relax by the fire in the Great Hall or in the Old Chapel as you unwind. There are 12 bedrooms in the castle and three holiday cottages, each one of them is different and unique. Dine by candle light in the 15th century dining room. Our food is exquisite and our selection of wines superb with something for everyones pallet. For many, the highlight of this memorable castle is the elegant dining experience in unsurpassed ambient surrounds with fantastic food on offer. Appleby Rail Station is just 5 minutes’ walk through the town centre. Penrith town center is less than a 20-minute drive from Appleby Castle.
